Price the wall and the way to reach it
A proposal should explain whether equipment reaches the wall from the yard, water or both. Include gate width, landscaping, dock projections, boat lifts and room to remove old material. Do not assume the route used by a recreational boat will accommodate construction equipment.
What the channel reports actually establish
The county’s 2020 study evaluated North Main and South Main separately. It identified localized constrictions but did not recommend blanket dredging of either at that time. Those findings are historical; they are not current soundings or a guarantee of access to your dock. Gulf Harbors Yacht Club operates docks on North Channel. Any use of its facilities needs a separate arrangement with the club; its location does not make it a public construction landing. Docks and Slips
As checked in October 2026, the county lists Gulf Harbors channel restoration in permitting, followed by final design and bidding after permits arrive. Keep that public program separate from decisions about a leaning wall, failed joint or soil loss on your property. Channel Restoration Program
Know the channel serving your lot
Gulf Harbors includes waterfront plats recorded as Flor-A-Mar and Gulf Harbors South Beach. Its extensive canal network developed during the 1960s and 1970s, but that history does not date an individual seawall. North Main, South Main, Cross Bayou and the connected Woodlands, Sea Forest and Jobeth Drive channels appear separately in county engineering records.

Compare access and structural costs
Request a measured wall length and separate allowances for dock conflicts, demolition handling, water access and yard restoration. Historic canal-dredging quantities do not establish the cost, material or permitted alignment of a residential seawall.

Should I wait for county dredging before repairing my seawall?
Do not base a structural decision on an estimated public-project schedule. Have the wall assessed and ask how any future channel work may affect its footing or access.
Does an older Flor-A-Mar home mean the seawall is original?
No. Check permits and prior repair records; the neighborhood’s development period does not establish the wall’s age or condition.
