Port Richey seawall repair at the river mouth
Port Richey has its own seawall checklist and permit office. Start there for city parcels, then plan around the riverfront, bayou and actual construction access.
Describe your project on this page ↓Use Port Richey’s own permit route
| Starting point | What to resolve | Prepare and look up |
|---|---|---|
Port Richey Development Services | City seawall application and inspection questions. | Current permitting contact: 727-835-1099. Use the city’s iWorQ portal and seawall checklist. |
DEP / USACE as applicable | Confirm outside authorization for the actual marine scope. | Describe size, alignment, excavation and habitat. A checklist shortcut should not be treated as blanket state or federal clearance. |
Use the city’s inspection sequence to compare scopes
Port Richey’s checklist distinguishes a new seawall from a repair. New work includes engineered plans and a survey. Ask the contractor to identify the applicable category and to describe any demolition, pilings, reinforcement and cap work rather than using “repair” as an undefined allowance. Seawall Permit Application Requirements
The checklist identifies inspections for footer and steel, piling, panel reinforcement, tie beam or cap, and final completion. The issued permit determines which stages apply. Agree on responsibility for scheduling inspections before work is covered. Seawall Permit Application Requirements
Plan a realistic loading route
Nick’s Park is at 7929 Bayview Street, and the city notes limited trailer parking. Waterfront Park on Old Post Road has kayak access; Oelsner Park is on Miller Bayou Drive. A nearby launch or waterfront park does not establish equipment capacity, commercial permission or space for stockpiles. Parks Parks Parks
The city’s stormwater network discharges toward the Cotee and Gulf. Include outlet protection and containment of demolition debris in the work plan, especially where the repair meets a drain. Stormwater
River mouth and bayou frontage
The Cotee River reaches the coast through Port Richey, with Millers Bayou adding a different waterfront setting nearby. The city lists Nick’s Park as its only motorboat ramp and Waterfront Park as a kayak launch. These distinctions matter when discussing access, but neither park listing provides permission to stage a private construction project.

Compare the work behind the total
Compare bids using the same repair category, inspection stages and restoration limits. Ask who pays for revised engineering if hidden damage changes the scope, and keep optional dock or lift work separate from the wall price.
Published planning ranges, not a quote. Confirm design, permits, removal, access and restoration in the final proposal.
Compare quotes and plan a budget →Create an inspection-ready project file
The goal is a scope that can be priced, reviewed and checked at each relevant stage.
Confirm the municipality
Use the parcel boundary rather than the Port Richey mailing address. West Port is a separate unincorporated subdivision.

Check flood information
Use the city’s Forerunner portal for initial property information, then resolve elevation or drainage questions with Development Services.
Keep the final record
Retain approved plans, inspection results and final acceptance with your property documents.
Describe your Port Richey waterfront work
Include the address, river or bayou frontage and whether the concern is an existing wall, a replacement or a combined dock project.
A clear next step for your waterfront.
Port Richey, the River Mouth & Millers Bayou project questions
Can a living shoreline replace my wall near Cotee River Landing?
The city adaptation plan considers combined shoreline approaches, but it does not approve an individual lot. Suitability needs site-specific review of space, exposure and habitat.
Which Port Richey phone number handles permitting?
The current Development Services page lists 727-835-1099. The city’s general line is 727-816-1900; older checklist instructions use option 2.
